Having a reliable source for your pet’s medications is essential to their health and safety. Animal Ally provides many medications in person including those for urgent needs such as injectables, long-acting treatments, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and pain control. We also use trusted online and local pharmacies, including Vetcove, Mixlab, and Northwest Compounders. As a small, independent practice with limited staff, we prioritize these pharmacies to keep things running smoothly and prices competitive. Ordering directly through your veterinarian’s online pharmacy provides peace of mind that prescriptions are handled correctly from start to finish. Because we oversee the process, we can guarantee quality, safety, and effectiveness — and ensure that every medication fits your pet’s medical history and treatment plan.
In addition, using our pharmacy keeps everything connected to your pet’s medical record. This integration allows us to adjust prescriptions easily, track responses, and make changes to treatment plans quickly when needed.
While some third-party pharmacies may offer lower prices for generic medications or over-the-counter items, it’s important to know the risks. Online retailers don’t always follow the same strict storage and shipping standards, and in some cases counterfeit or expired products have entered the market. Delays in verifying prescriptions or errors in communication can also cause frustration and impact your pet’s care.
For outside pharmacy requests, a written prescription will be mailed. Please allow up to 1 week for all prescription requests. To expedite processing, email the team after submitting a request.
Sometimes pets need a medication that isn’t available in the right size, strength, or flavor. This is where compounding pharmacies play an important role. By customizing medications — turning pills into flavored liquids, adjusting dosages for cats or small dogs, or creating alternative forms like gels — compounding pharmacies help us deliver treatments in a way that works best for each individual pet.
When compounded properly, these medications can improve compliance, reduce stress for both pets and families, and provide access to drugs that might otherwise be unavailable. The key is using trustworthy compounding pharmacies with strict quality and safety standards.
We partner with reputable compounding pharmacies such as Mixlab and Northwest Compounding Pharmacy to ensure your pet receives medications that are safe, effective, and tailored to their unique needs.
